Introduction:  There is little empirical evidence of the contribution of group exercise programs to daily physical activity requirements. This study used SenseWear Armbands to differentiate and quantify physical activity in different group exercise classes towards ACSM guidelines on daily activity.
Methods: Using a crossover design, 13 males (27.9±6.3 years, 177.4±5.1cm, 78.7±4.8kg) 17 females (30.5±6.7 years, 167.5±4.67cm, 63.8±9.2kg) completed four Group Exercise classes in a randomised order over seven days. Data was collected from heart rate monitors and SenseWear-MF-SW armbands.
